About

This course is designed to educate Home Health Aides (HHAs) on the importance of bowel health and their role in implementing and supporting bowel programs for patients receiving care at home. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of normal bowel function, common gastrointestinal concerns in home care settings, and strategies for promoting regular elimination. The course emphasizes safe and respectful care techniques, infection control, proper documentation, and communication with the healthcare team. HHAs will learn how to follow individualized care plans, assist with toileting needs, recognize signs of constipation or complications, and maintain patient dignity and comfort. This training ensures that HHAs are confident and competent in supporting one of the most sensitive aspects of personal care in the home environment.
